Colorado Correctional Industries is one of those things you never knew you didn’t know about. Their mission is to both instruct and hire Colorado inmates for everything from saddle making to cheese production! These offenders can then apply their new skills to life outside, and have a head start on a new career.
Moore Creative and I spent some time behind bars photographing just a few of the participants and their efforts. One of the most interesting is a dog training program which “…provides the outside community with pre-trained dogs. Dogs graduating from this program fill many roles: everything from a wonderfully trained basic family pet, to a nursing home dog, to very sophisticated assistance dogs which perform a variety of tasks for their masters.”
