Location Portrait Shoot: Always be Prepared!

One of my favorite clients invited me to their conference last month. Headshots were not on the menu, but sometimes they get ordered anyway, right?

Meet Ricardo, a busy vice-president at Ciena. He was the man of the hour at this conference, scheduled from early morning until late at night, but he needed an informal business portrait somewhere in between. We hadn’t planned on portraits, but I packed a little lighting kit just in case.

I was able to photograph and retouch him on location, and delivered several options that very morning. I included a piece of architecture to make it look like we weren’t in some park (those bug me), and gelled the strobe to keep him warm, but the outside cool.

Thanks to my wonderful client, Betsy Hansen, for the behind-the-scenes photo! See more location portraits here.
